• Description: Splendid antique Victorian lamp. Oil or paraffin lamp in opaline glass , hand-painted and decorated, in excellent condition. Parts: base, bowl, burner, glass and shade. Standing on bronze feet. The raised base served to carry the light higher and to avoid spills of oil and paraffin. The foot of the base was usually in bronze and the body of the lamp usually in porcelain or decorated glass, while the shade could be in frosted or opaline glass. The flame was carried by an adjustable wick coming out of the burner.
