Images and artificial intelligence

Why we are telling you

When you sell a one-of-a-kind piece, the image is the only thing that can be looked at before deciding. It seems right to say how it came about.

Since 2 August 2026 the law says so too: Art. 50 of the European Regulation on artificial intelligence requires content generated or modified with such tools to be recognisable. We would have written it anyway.

The photographs of the piece

The images showing the furniture are real photographs, taken by us of the very piece you will receive. We adjust light and framing, as has always been done: we do not add inlays that are not there, we do not remove cracks, we do not change the colour of the wood.

Where a mark or a restoration matters we photograph it close up on purpose, and we describe it in the listing. A fault hidden in a photograph becomes a dispute on delivery, and neither of us gains from that.

The room images

Some images show the piece in a furnished room, or evoke an atmosphere. Those are generated or reworked with artificial intelligence and serve to convey the scale and character of a piece, not to depict a real place.

What is for sale is that piece and only that piece: rugs, lamps, paintings, plants and everything around it are not included and are there only to give an idea. Where an image is of this kind, you will find it marked in the gallery.

How to tell them apart

  • The first image of every listing is always the photograph of the real piece.
  • Room images carry a note in the gallery.
  • If you are unsure about any image, write to us: we tell you how it came about and, if you like, send you further photographs of the piece, taken specially.

What really counts

The written description prevails, with its measurements, materials and condition. If an image and the text were to say different things, the text wins — and please tell us, because that is a mistake of ours to correct.

If on delivery the piece does not match the description, the two-year legal guarantee and the right to return it within fourteen days both stand. How they work is set out on the Terms of sale and Returns and refunds pages.

Texts

Some descriptions were written with the help of artificial-intelligence tools, but the information that matters — measurements, materials, period, condition — we verify on the piece before publishing. Translations into the other languages start from the Italian text, which remains the reference.

Questions

If something does not add up, write to info@mobilimerlin.com or call +39 0442 83002 +39 3478916852. We would rather have one more question before the purchase than a return after it.
