Description
Oil painting on canvas showing the Immaculate Virgin with Saints Peter, John, Louis and Magdalene.
The work is attributed to Felice Torelli (Verona, 1667 – Bologna, 1748), Italian painter and one of the founders of the Accademia Clementina in Bologna. The composition has a light, luminous palette with echoes of Venetian painting, while the arrangement of the figures shows the influence of the Bolognese school.
Taken as a whole, the work reflects a typically Venetian taste joined to a solid graphic construction of the sacred figures.
The painting needs restoration (as can be seen in the photographs)
