Table designed and made by the architect Giuseppe Merlin in the 1980s, with a spare, refined aesthetic based on materials of high quality.
Table designed and made by the architect Giuseppe Merlin in the 1980s, with that spare, refined look which comes from materials of high quality more than from decoration. The top is in thick polished crystal: it lets the light through, sets off the composition beneath and heightens the formal clarity of the design, giving the whole a strong sense of depth and visual lightness.
The base is made up of four small tuff columns — Vicenza stone, twentieth century — geometric elements after seventeenth-century forms that hold together solidity and refinement. The columns recall classical shapes and make an elegant sculptural base, keeping a restrained and aristocratic style.
The set is completed by four matching chairs, with a pale frame and a covering in lively tones, which can be seen through the crystal top.
